A time to step out of one's comfort zone...

I'm not a natural leader. Oh, sure, I like to be in charge of things and do things my way, but I've always been on the shy side and struggle with telling people what to do.

Well, I got a promotion this weekend. I didn't get a pay raise, but I did finally get my own office. YAY!

Dan is just too busy to adequately run our company, so after much discussion we decided that I should take over the reins--managing the projects and the day-to-day minutia of making sure the boys are doing what they're supposed to be doing and doing it how they're supposed to be doing it.

So far so good. Most of them took it well. We'll see how things look tomorrow.

What is Dan so busy doing???? I'm not being facetious ... just hoping he's so busy servicing bunches of new clients that you had to take over the office!!!

Love,
Mom

Congrats on the promotion, Jen. You say you aren't a natural leader, but I have no problem imagining you at the helm. The fact that the boys adjusted so quickly leads me to believe they had no problem imagining you as their leader either. So what is a natural leader other than someone others are willing to follow? Sounds like you to me.

Mom: Dan has a dozen or so forensic cases that he should be working on and his own projects like new contracts for clients, programming, projects, sales, etc...

Regina: Well, they adjusted well on the front side, but they grumble to one another on the back side. There's one in particular we *know* would and did have issues. He just doesn't like to be held accountable. And he also wondered why *he* didn't get "promoted". It was pointed out to him that I didn't get a pay raise--and that he would have had to. Not to mention, if he doesn't want to do his own paperwork, how is he going to keep track of five people's paperwork???

But thanks so much for your vote of confidence! It means a lot.
