Thank goodness it's Friday...

It's been raining for nearly twenty-four hours here in my neck of the woods. Which isn't a bad thing when you sell fireworks. You want lots and lots of rain, so that come 4th of July there are no droughts or burn bans.

That much rain makes it hard to work though, 'cause when it's this dark and chilly and rainy, you want to curl up with a good book or movie, or spend the day cuddled under a blanket snoozing, or some combination thereof.

I would love to be home, snuggled on the couch, Star Trek playing on the DVD player, laptop revved up and ready to go...I'm trying to wrap up two stories this weekend, both at @ 5K words each--well, one has about 1K less, the other a few K more...

Hope you have fun plans for the weekend, whether it be rain or shine in your neck of the woods.

Monday, Monday...

It's s beautiful crisp, sunshiney morning here in North Texas.

The Christmas tree is down, boxed up, and put back into the shed. Christmas is gone from the house save a couple of items that didn't make it back into the few containers I'd hauled in.

The muse hit me yesterday and knocked me over, so in between loads of laundry and various other minor household chores, I wrote and wrote. And, boy, did it feel good to have the words flow. I'm at 3100 words for yesterday and still counting! If I didn't need my sleep, I'd've stayed up later.

Well, gotta get some work done so I can get back to writing.

Happy Monday!

Update--

Five contest entries--judged.
Critique--done (twice, actually).
Short story--edited and complete.

What's next--another critique and another.

And writing of course...

I really need to take my Christmas tree down and haul all the Christmas stuff back to the shed. The lawn needs to be mown and the leaves raked, but those are #1 son tasks, although I'll help him.

Other than that...more writing, me thinks.

Have a good weekend.

Contest entries, critiques, and edits, oh my...

Five contest entries, one critique, and one short story in edit mode.

Normally, I love to judge contest entries and critique others' work. But I've got a distraction that I'm having fun with and am finding it hard to put aside to do this other stuff I've committed to. (The edits are actually going well, and I got in a lot of extra time this morning, so I'm not complaining.)

I've actually been fairly productive at work even with the distraction. I really just need to put my mind to getting those entries read and judged. Just set aside an hour or two a day for the next however-many days to devote to it and git 'em done.

But now it's the weekend and I'll be able to continue my Robin Hood rewatch, too...

I really need to be a housewife again!

Brr...

There should not be icicles in North Texas. There just shouldn't.

Currently it is 18*F. With the wind chill, it feels like 5*.

Amazingly they did not close our schools. They planned ahead and schools are open. Some districts did close, but not ours.

However, I wish I were at home now, snuggled on the sofa sleeping through my favorite movie.

Hope you're keeping warm, wherever you are.

And so it begins...

The new year is here. Life as I prefer it has returned. Hubby and son are home from the wilds of Central Texas. Christmas/New Years fireworks sales were pretty decent all things considered, so the girls can attend college for another semester, at any rate. And Monday morning back at work...

Saturday and Sunday were quiet as the boys hadn't returned yet. I had a movie marathon Saturday, watching Star Trek, Sweet Home Alabama, Lady Jane, and Dirty Dancing. I simultaneously surfed the 'Net and got some writing in--I'm the queen of multi-tasking. Sunday was spent in a Robin Hood marathon--I was able to watch the first nine episodes of season one. And I got to watch it on the big screen, which was quite a treat. Hoodie goodness up close and personal!

As for resolutions...none really. At least nothing I haven't been striving toward anyway: eating better, getting more exercise, getting more done in a day...

Hope your new year is full of health, happiness, and prosperity!
